2009-2010 School Year

Take part in entertaining and educational activities especially prepared for youngsters. More than 75, 000 participants in 2008. Here are activities and unusual sites where you will be at the centre of the action.

 

AGE 5 TO 7

THE LITTLE OFFICERS’ SCHOOL

Captain François Castel, alias Laviolette, has you enrolled as an officer. Become a loyal subject of the King and participate in various manœuvres. Games, competitions, stories, mimes, quiz and riddles at the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham.

WAKE UP ABRAHAM!

Marguerite or Abraham Martin, famous farmer whose name was given to the Plains of Abraham, tries to convince their cow Caillette that she can no longer go grazing on the Plains of Abraham. You must explain to her why. History, games, puppet, mimes, making of a scale model and many other activities at the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham.

GOING BACK IN TIME

The soldier of the Martello Tower has come back from a long trip in the past in order to discover the toys of Émile, a six-year-old boy. Rediscover his hobbies and participate in the unusual games played by your ancestors. Stories, period games, military inspection and mystery hideaway.

AGE 8 TO 12

THE BIG OFFICERS’ SCHOOL

Disciplin doesn’t scare you off? Then, get enrolled in General Montcalm’s army and participate in many manœuvres. Stories, games, gun and cannon competitions at the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham.

THE GREAT TURMOIL

Show how courageous, intelligent, strong and daring you are and enter the legend of the Martello Tower. Therefore, you will have to solve the mysteries that the tower hides within its walls. You will meet the soldier of the tower who will give you a hand. Face up to your fears. Military style games and competitions, mysteries to solve and period artefacts.

PER ACTIVITY:

Period: from September 2008 to June 2009.
Maximum capacity: 120 children.
Presentation (costumed character): 1 guide / 30 children / activity.
Duration: 2 hours.
Language: French only.
Meeting place (depending on the activity): Martello Tower 2 (corner of Taché St. and Wilfrid-Laurier Ave., Quebec City) or the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham (835 Wilfrid-Laurier, Quebec City).
Cost: $4.50 / child. A minimum charge will apply.

A reservation is mandatory for every activity. Sportswear adapted to the weather occurring during the visit is required. The activities take place in all weathers unless otherwise informed by the National Battlefields Commission. A dining-room can be available on request. All costs include taxes and are payable to the Receiver General of Canada. Prices and details are subject to change.
