Educational and entertaining activities, lively interactive animations, costumed characters, unusual places and dynamic exhibitions. Over 80,000 participants yearly. The Plains of Abraham : a leader in the field of group activities!

Period activities are our way of inviting you to meet the characters that embody the history of the Plains of Abraham, and to experience their everyday life. Between theatre and re-enactment, period presentations are meant as a dynamic approach to help us discover our heritage.

SOLDIER OF THE MARTELLO TOWER

Accompanied by British officers, learn all about the living conditions of the soldiers billeted in one of the Martello Towers. Through a highly interactive historical activity, students participate in a military life of 1812 by joining in competitions and games. Accessories : guns, wooden horse, artefacts and early 19th-century decor.

THE MILITARY (BATTLES OF THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM)

Under the command of generals Wolfe and Montcalm, revisit the living conditions of soldiers at the time of the 1759 and 1760 battles, on the Plains of Abraham. Review strategies, load rifles and canons, become an artillery expert, treat wounded fellows fallen on the battlefield. Accessories : interactive whiteboard (IWB), canons, rifles, surgery instruments, cartridges, artilleryman, material and cannonballs.

THE SNOWSHOER

Put on your caps, mittens and snowshoes and lift the veil on the winter sports on the Plains of Abraham. Join a snowshoer from the early 20th century and relive the Belle Époque of these winter strolls. This is a one-of-a-kind recreational activity that will make you shiver with delight. Traditional snowshoes, arrow sashes, lanterns (in the evening) and hot chocolate included.

ODYSSEY : A JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY ON THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM

Set course for this multimedia exhibition unique to Quebec city and relive the rich, colourful past of the Plains of Abraham, the cradle of Canadian history. Embark on a virtual 400-year journey, with historical figures at your side, ranging from the birth of New France to the park's creation through the battles of the Plains of Abraham and Sainte-Foy. Approximately 20 uniforms associated with the battles complete this exhibition. Supervised self-guided tour. Accessories : head phones, special effects, artefacts, scale models, anecdotes, animatronic character and video.

WOLFE AND MONTCALM IN YOUR CLASSROOM

Along with General Wolfe and General Montcalm, review the great strategies of the Siege of Quebec City in the summer of 1759. Learn about all the subtle details of battling in ranks by taking part in our rifle loading competition. Participate in an intriguing historical quiz and attend a surgical demonstration of the period. Accessories : rifles, artefacts, multimedia and uniforms.

THE QUEBEC CITY MARTELLO TOWERS ON THE ALERT NEW

A WEB 2.0 animation in your classroom via a videoconference, directly from Martello Tower 2.

Join the ranks of the artillery troops stationed in Quebec City. Get to know how to load of a musket, handle period objects and discover the punishments given to unruly soldiers. Through the Quebec City Martello Towers' bicentennial and the War of 1812, discover the history of a largely ignored built-up heritage. Material sent to the teacher : period household objects and iconographies. Necessary equipment : computer, high-speed Internet connexion, projector or interactive panel, microphone, camera and audio system.

THE CHAMBERS GANG TRIAL - NEW

Hanging, deportation or imprisonment: discover the fate meted out to Chambers and his gangster accomplices. The criminalized gang had taken refuge on the Plains of Abraham before they were arrested. Its members are now incarcerated in the Quebec City prison. Take part in this gripping trial as a victim, a witness or a member of the jury on the actual site of the incarceration. ant interactive and lively presentation with tour of the dungeon and trial.
