AT YOUR SCHOOL
A SCHOOL BURSTING AT THE SEAMS

For the back to school period or a “rewarding” activity, take a leap in the past through an unforgettable live animation. According to your selection, you will get to meet either Wolfe and Montcalm or Marguerite and Abraham Martin for a unique historical activity that will delight your entire school. Accessories: set, historical objects and costumes.

Period: from September to April.
Maximum capacity: your school.

Duration: 1 hour (20 minutes per cycle).

Cost: A minimum $300.00 fee will apply.

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders

ABRAHAM AND COMPANY

Plunge in the very heart of the 17th century as you enter the home of Abraham Martin to find out about family life in New France. You will get to handle all sorts of period items, hum old tunes, have fun with the Martin children’s toys, and participate in a whole range of historical games. Accessories: music and historical objects.

Period: all year round.
Maximum capacity: 2 classes.

THE ARCHEOLOGIST

Get initiated to the profession of archeologist. Go on a real dig. Investigate and answer to our archeological quiz. Accessories: trowels, sieve, artefacts and crockery.

Presentation: 1 guide / 30 students.

AN UNUSUAL HOUSE

In the evocative setting of Martello Tower 2, experience family life as it was in of the late 19th century. Discover the ancestors of our daily objects and go back into past history through a funny timeline. Accessories: thaumatrope, video, period objects and Jacob’s ladder.

NEW
SANTA CLAUS OR FATHER CHRISTMAS?

Go back in time and discover the history of old-style Christmases in an opulent Grande Allée residence. Relive the holiday atmosphere by actively taking part in historic games that blend the enchantment and magic of Christmas. Accessories: old-style games and period decorations.

THE ARCHEOLOGIST

LOUIS ROUER DE VILLERAY, A NEW FRANCE ARISTOCRAT

Leap back to the New France period as you become employees of Louis Rouer de Villeray, an aristocrat. Learn how to barter with Amerindians and to identify animal tracks and fur. Be at the centre of the action and participate in games to discover the objects, daily life and trades of New France. Accessories: period costumes, furs, objects and illustrations.

NEW FRANCE MILITIAMEN

Discipline is not something that scares you? Then, enrol as a militiaman and participate in thrilling military manoeuvres. Drum drill, historical quiz, loading of a cannon, military manoeuvres on the battlefield (if weather permits). Accessories: flags, drums, cannon and military items.

AT YOUR SCHOOL
ABRAHAM’S FAMILY IN CLASS

Welcome Marguerite and Abraham Martin, the famous farmer whose name was given to the Plains of Abraham. Become a member of their family, so that they can turn you into genuine 18th century French Canadians. All students will wear costumes to learn about the trades of the period. Accessories: period costumes, traditional artefacts, New France style games and ancient images.

Period: from September to April.
Maximum capacity: 30 students.

Duration: 1 hour or 1 period.

THE ARCHEOLOGIST

Attend this interactive and detailed presentation explaining the various steps of the profession of archeologist: from the visual inspection to the inventory via excavating and artefact cleaning. Accessories: excavation site, sieve, archeological quiz and scale model.

SOLDIER FOR A DAY AT THE MARTELLO TOWER

Participate in the defence of Quebec City by occupying the Martello Tower and experiencing life stationed at a garrison. Turn back time to 1812, be on the alert and live the difficult life of the gunner. Accessories: guns, cannons, ammunitions and furniture of the period.

Period: from September to April.
Maximum capacity: 100 students (from September 1st to October 14) and 80 students (from October 15 to April 14).

THE BESIEGED TOWER

Take the Martello Tower by storm, as you become a 19th century soldier, experience military life of that period and be in top form for all kinds of military manoeuvres. Accessories: guns, wooden horse, cannon and period items.

Maximum capacity: 100 students (from April 15 to October 14) and 80 students (from October 15 to April 14).
Presentation: 1 guide / 30 students.
Duration: 90 minutes.

THE MILITARY (THE BATTLES OF THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM)

Participate in the military training under the command of General Wolfe and General Montcalm: analysis of the military strategies used in 1759 and 1760, theatrical performance and parade on the battle sites (weather permitting). Accessories: wall map of the area in 1759-1760, regimental flags, drums, officers’ uniforms and vests displaying the armies’ respective colours.

ODYSSEY: A JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY ON THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM

Set course for the Odyssey multimedia exhibition and relive the rich, colourful past of the Plains of Abraham, the cradle of Canadian history. Embark on a virtual 400-year journey, with historical figures at your side, ranging from the birth of New France to the park's creation through the famous battle of the Plains of Abraham. Over 20 regimental uniforms from 1759-1760 complete this exhibition. Accessories: head phones, special effects, artefacts, scale models, anecdotes, animatronic character, video and rally (upon request).

Attend a friendly confrontation between two generals: Wolfe and Montcalm. Then, participate in a military enrolment and game about identifying the soldier, his function, uniform and flag. Accessories: multimedia presentation, flags, uniforms and vests, flint-lock guns and period artefacts.

Period: from September to April.
Maximum capacity: 1 or 2 classes at a time.
Presentation: 2 guides.
Duration: 1 hour or 1 period.

If you’re not afraid of your own shadow, come and shed light on the Martello Tower 2 mystery by strolling through the fabulous haunted labyrinth. Listen to scary tales, and discover the punishment dealt to criminals during that period. Shudders and jumps guaranteed. Accessories: period items and haunted labyrinth.

In the company of our legendary storyteller Abraham Martin or his wife Marguerite, become an expert in myths, legends and tales. 1759: FROM THE WARPATH TO THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM

Plunge deep into the battle of the Plains of Abraham and the preparations that led to it. The virtual exhibition entitled 1759, accessible free of charge by Internet, is a unique opportunity for you to relive, side by side with the French, British, Canadians and Amerindians, the ups and downs of a fight to the finish for the conquest of America, a landmark in the military history of this country. Fill out a registration card to enrol, print the actual declaration of war made by France, hear the generals explain how they envision victory, find out about the diet and leisure activities of the combatants… a total of 67 activities allowing you to actively participate in the game's progress (illustrated narratives, interactive maps and games, videos, evolutionary comic strips, period music, etc.).

A reservation is mandatory for every activity. Sportswear adapted to the weather occurring during the visit is required. The activities take place in all weathers unless otherwise informed by the National Battlefields Commission. A dining-room can be available on request. All costs include taxes and are payable to the Receiver General of Canada. Prices and details are subject to change.
