An "ingenious" exhibit at the Martello Tower 1

SUMMER SPECIAL 2010
THREE ACTIVITIES FOR A SINGLE PRICE

A unique architectural treasure

Bits of history

Martello Tower 1 reveals its secrets in an exhibit occupying three floors and including eight sound terminals depicting a soldier’s life. Discover the complete history of the towers, their role, their architecture and their military and strategic inventiveness, and the living conditions of the soldiers billeted in them.

“Attention! Men, this is wartime; regulations are very strict and anyone who disobeys them will suffer the consequences. Make cartridges, clean rifles and guns, wash the floors and carry out the other chores even while living in constant fear of a surprise attack by the enemy. Dismiss! ”
