The major attraction of this special 100th anniversary program was undoubtedly Plaines lunes, an impressive show featuring several tableaux highlighting the site’s 400 years, starting with the arrival of the first explorers and ending with the park as we know it today. Nearly 2000 costumed characters were at the centre of this large-scale spectacle presented in Québec City for the first time, with some 650 extras, dancers, riders and circus performers. An original, contemporary creation. Glittering fireworks, unexpected decorative elements, an unforgettable human adventure set in Québec City.

Creation and production by Dominique Martens
Music by Dominic Laprise
A National Battlefields Commission production

1908, the year when a young artist enjoys painting in a thousand colours this wonderful park, a source of inexhaustible inspiration. An unexpected meeting, and his world  is turned upside down, his heart leaps, time becomes unsettled. Present and future jump as the imaginary and real world intermingle in line with this grandiose, fantastic pageant at the very centre of the memory of this site tinged with our history.

A memorable chapter of our history, brilliantly told, of an outstanding quality, to follow the example of the famous 1908 pageant that attracted crowds when the park was first created. A surprising series of significant facts on the Plains of Abraham, an invitation to experience dreams and magic under the seal of humour and emotion.

This living epic, full of contrast, was presented not once but five different times in the majestic natural setting of the park, and require the contribution of over 700 volunteer craft workers, actors, riders, dressmakers, dressers, stage designers and other stage professionals.
